The Wimberley WH-200 Wimberley Head Version II is a gimbal-type tripod head that incorporates an elevated tilt mechanism and adjustable platform to make the camera/lens' center of gravity and tilt axis of the head be perfectly aligned.Things once thought of as impossible with a ballhead are nothing short of mundane with a Wimberley because a weightless camera/lens combo (even a 600mm f/4 w/ large body) can literally be controlled with one finger. Point the rig where you want and take the hand away and it stays exactly where you put it. The Version II head is more compact and lightweight features a redesigned panning base soft-touch knobs and includes a built-in Arca-type quick release base. Please see lens-plate reference chart to find the recommended plate for your particular lens.

"I'm shooting mostly sports and carry Canon 70-200 f/2.8 IS USM and EF 300 f/2.8 with me. I thought I'm fit enough to handhold the 300 and that the monopod is just good enough for a support... man, once you've tried this and realized that you can shoot 99% like handheld (movements) but with triple th …"  Read Full Review »

"I use this with a Gitzo 3530LS CF tripod.

It is easy to mount my 500mm lens to it and I hope the black finish holds up OK.

It can be adjusted to balance my lens perfectly in as little as a minute, and it stays there. To hike a little farther just tighten the tension all the way down, The first ti …"  Read Full Review »

"Takes all of the stress out of shooting with my 400 2.8. Warning, this will spoil you and make shooting with a monopod seem crude. I know that monopods are the rule for a large percentage of shooting, but when you can use a tripod, it just can't get any better than this. I was surprised at how steep …"  Read Full Review »

"This is an exceptional head. I can not say enough about the ease of use and the support it provides to my equipment. As I balanced each lens, I marked its location. Now I can attach each lens by color coded tape, couldn't be simpler. Excellent support and stability. This is a must for the wildlife p …"  Read Full Review »

"When I ordered an EF 600mm f/4, I knew that a gimbal head was an absolute must. There's simply no question of trying to make do with even the heaviest-duty ball mount. On my first try, it took me 20-30 seconds to get my camera and lens perfectly balanced. And once balanced, the 600mm with a 1DIII …"  Read Full Review »
