    Radar Roy's Tests

Radar Roy found that the Whistler 1788 is the first cordless radar detector that can actually detect POP radar while operating cordless.

This is perhaps due to the fact that the 1788 is the only cordless that uses four batteries instead of two.

The 1788 has good range and filtering, and is classed as the #2 cordless radar detector that Radar Roy has ever tested.

    1788: A good deal

In town, at least where I live, I get a lot of nuisance readings, but that's how all of the radar detectors I own are, I think this town has a lot of non-law enforcement related radar emitters. Otherwise, the only real problem I've had with the detector is that wh..." Read Full Review »

Not the best, but does provide alerts

"I bought this not to evade Smokey, but to get plenty of alerts, even false positives, to keep me in check, but without the ugly wires all the "real detectors" have. My first unit, the internal "lock" for the mount broke, requiring warranty repair, and the manufacturer did this in quick order. Using regular NIMH batteries, it does not last as long as with the supplied batteries. The included NIMHs last all week..." Read Full Review »
