"I bought this to extend the record time on a Comcast Scientific Atlanta Explorer 8300HD DVR from the pitiful 20 hours of HD capacity. "This product is recommended by Scientific Atlanta for use with their 8300HD series. However, there are two types of SA 8300HD's. One with a hard wired control card, and one where the control card is inserted in the front.
