"Purchased HDD to replace a failed Maxtor. Two different computors failed to recognize it, regardless of the program strapping (Master/Slave/cable select) both primary and alternate. I called their tech support and after being asked if I had followed all the instructions (I had) then for its serial number was told that it was probably defective!
