So easy to use; beautiful light

"It's big!! You need to keep that in mind, but it's fantastic. So easy to use, you'll be up and running within 5 minutes. I use it with my SB800 (pointed toward the back silver lining), on a medium duty lightstand with a standard umbrella mount bracket and I trigger it with my D300's flash in commander mode. Doesn't get any easier than this. No speed ring needed, no cables, nothing more. (Well, except maybe ..." Read Full Review »

Nice light. Convenient. Poorly built.

"I really like the convenience of setting this unit up and the light it provides. My biggest worry is longevity with it. One of the posts has already ripped through the small rubber boot at the end, and it constantly pops off after only a dozen or so uses...." Read Full Review »

"I've used this box for 3 sessions so far and I'm in love. I was using a horrible umbrella before and the light I get from the Wescott is soft and diffused but the box doesn't block so much that I'm not getting any benefits from the added lights. My only complaint is that I always get my hair caught …"  Read Full Review »

"I like Westcott Apollo softboxes because they're even more compact when folded (no speed ring needed) and faster to erect than other foldable softboxes. I take the JS model with me everywhere.

Another aspect of the JS is because the head is actually inside the softbox and pointed toward the rear …"  Read Full Review »

"The light from this with my Canon 580ex is wonderful but I've had a hard time putting it at an angle because my light stand has to be inserted through a zipper in the back of the softbox and angling the box changes the relationship of that zipper opening to my pole and I can't angle it very much. "The box is big so if you have a small space you may need something a little smaller. Fairly easy setup but inflexible as far as angling it. The head goes in from the bottom of the box and then zips up. You would need a boom in order to have more angle control. I love it for what it is, if you need l …"  Read Full Review »
