Toshiba's DVR650 Multiformat DVD Recorder/VCR allows you to record to VCR, DVD-RAM, DVD-R/RW or DVD+R/RW discs. It also plays for DVD-RAM, DVD-R/RW, DVD+R/RW as well as CD-R and CD-RW discs with recorded MP3 and WMA files. Tune in and record your favorite shows with its ATSC digital tuner. Plug in your Digital Camcorder to the front panel DV in and make high quality DVDs of your memories quickly and easily. Watch your old DVDs in pristine 1080p when attached to a TV with HDMI inputs. The DVR650 comes with several outstanding features such Auto-Title/Chapter/Thumbnail creation and Time Slip Recording and Playback. You can now watch a recording that is already in progress or pause Live TV at a certain moment and then watch it later, as if there were no pause. In addition to five levels of recording options, you have access to EASY NAVI menu that updates you with the status of the DVD recorder. For your convenience, this recorder has several front-panel input terminals, such as DV in, RCA, A/V and S-Video. Transfer all your VCR tapes to DVD preservation purposes.

"The prerecoreded DVD picture quality is very good. However, the DVDs recorded on the Toshiba when played back do not have as high a resolution as I expected. Moreover, it is difficult to figure out how to be able to re-record discs on a RW DVD from the enclosed Toshiba instructions. "The manual says "You can playback the DVD during the VCR timer recording, and you can playback the VCR during the DVD timer recording." This is a lie. When my children are watching a DVD, and the VCR side begins to record a program on the timer recording schedule, the DVD stops playing, and I can't start it again.
