If you're proficient with electronics...

"... then this adapter isn't so bad. Perchance the higher end laptops are over-loading this adapter, as my laptop (A205-S5947) only draws 80 watts, and I had no problem with this unit that came with the computer. As far as cable breakage ... I had to repair mine (I know, bad Tristan!) after dropping the laptop ON THE CABLE INPUT. But that was abuse, not normal use. Worst Purchase Ever

"I have had four adapters die on me. Either they burn out, they overheat, or the metal piece that plugs into the computer breaks. If I had known that Toshiba was well known for having problems with their adapters, I would have purchased a laptop from Dell. "After having this adapter for a year, the part that plugs into my laptop broke. The rubber sort of tore off, and the wires started unraveling to the point that it is completely useless now. It really should be stronger. "
