"I bought this VCR for the purpose of converting VHS tapes to DVD. Luckily I used 2 different test tapes with random programs on them and it "ate" them both. The player simply stopped playing and when I tried to eject the VHS tape, the tape was wrapped around the inside of the VCR. The tapes were not that old and on a good brand of VHS tapes.
