Traditionally, AV Receivers and PCs were located in separate areas of the home. In order to share personal content (music, photos or videos) from a PC, the PC had to be moved and if possible, the PC would be connected to the AV Receiver. Sony engineers saw a need emerging and built the STR-DA6400ES ES 7.1 Channel Network AV Receiver. The release of the STR-DA6400ES marks the 25th Anniversary of Sony’s first DLNA® compliant A/V Receiver. Utilizing the Ethernet connection on the rear panel and a router, the STR-DA6400ES can communicate with a PC connected to the same network. Simply said, your PC can share music, photos and videos even if the STR-DA6400ES is in another room of your home. The xross media bar™ inspired GUI has been enhanced to provide simplified access to content on a networked PC plus SHOUTcast® Internet Radio and Rhapsody® Music Service. The addition of the Ethernet connection goes beyond just entertainment services; it simplifies product set up and enables network upgrades.

"The best receiver I've ever seen. Multiple HDMI inputs and outputs let you connect many of the pieces, especially if your TV has only 1 HDMI. So this receiver acts like a switch. My TV has 4 HDMI, plus this receiver has 6. I am not sure if I'll ever use all of them. "

"first lamp went out in 5 weeks - second lamp went out at 6 months - and this units is SOOOOOOOOOOO protected from voltage issues - 2200VA apc line conditioner and backup "
