For the Roaming Sound Seekers

"The best reviews have already been written: [@]I'm a public radio producer and a podcaster of events and interviews. The D50's got me hooked because of its:- Full metal jacket that can really take a beating. All rivals come in plastic.- Level and volume controls in knobs. Thank you SONY for answering my prayers.- 12-hr batteries, leaving rivals' 5 hours in shame.- 5 seconds of buffer that helps keep your butt co..." Read Full Review »

Could be easier to use

"While this product has lots of bells and whistles, it takes some study and practice in different situations to understand the subleties of its use. "I ordered this bad boy to record sound effects and sound design work for film. I wanted something quiet because I was annoyed with my mini disc recorder I was using. The unit itself was noisy and the level meter sucked. My new Sony PCM-D50 is AWESOME. It makes no noise and the record sampling rate …"  Read Full Review »

"I am using the PCM-D50 for field and studio recording. The built in mic works so well that I'm only occasionally tempted to use external ones. The interface is intuitive and easy to navigate. The only draw back, when recording outdoors, is the wind noise. Even with the AD-PCM1 windscreen, the unit s …"  Read Full Review »
