Camcorder for a dedicated video shooter

"I've been using this camcorder for almost four months now, and it still keeps my creative juices flowing, which means it is a good camcorder. The way it's made and the way it looks encourages me to go out there and make some videos. I think this is very important. I realize that the HD1000U is basically an HC7 or HC9 Handycam in a big shoulder mount body, but I'd rather spend my money on a piece of electronic..." Read Full Review »

Pros and cons

"The Sony 1000 is a mixed bag. I've been shooting low-budget weddings for 15 years and I can't afford the expensive camcorders other videographers use. I'm in a part of the country that is a very cheap market so my equipment dollars must be utilized efficiently. Having used both big shoulder-mount camcorders and smaller hand-held types, there is a perception with the public that bigger is definitely better. It l..." Read Full Review »

"For the money, this rivals a $15,000 cam! The picture is unbelievably crisp and clean. Has to be seen on a hd tv to be believed! Audio is fair but can be easily corrected using editing programs or manually adjusting the audio controls. "
