"Ultimately, this is the best cd player that I ever had!!! The sound quality is phenonmenal and the bass and treble aren't sacrificed for the sake of the other. "I bought this to replace the one that fell off the seat of my car to the floor boards! T didn't play after that short 18" fall.. This how porely made this is, Abt sent me a new one and it got screwed up in shipping!! This one fell off the sofa to a carpeted foor and it to is now dead. The latch to release the top is on the side, and unless you can put the player down on a table or something you will probably drop the unit as I have several times, however the player is durable and works after dropping.
