Pretty useless

"I bought this to improve 800Mhz trunking on my new GRE PSR500 (the most amazing scanner ever made, BTW). I live 20 miles outside of Boston and wanted to pick up digital and conventional trunking signals. While it slightly improved reception on conventional VHF-Hi/UHF frequencies, it offered no improvement at all on 800Mhz, and, in most cases, missed signals that the standard rubber duckie picked up. Returned thi..." Read Full Review »

"This is a great antenna, and as mentioned provides a 48% boost over the stock antenna. I was surprised though when I accidentally bumped the scanner (PRO-196) and it hit the floor from a height of 18" or so... The antenna took a beating and bent >30 degrees, and then didn't work so well even after s …"  Read Full Review »

"This 800 MHZ antenna was designed to double the reception strength of this band only..however..I have found that it works just as well (living within a major city) with the VHF-High band, the entire UHF band, and of course, the 800 MHZ band. And yes, believe the reviewers who verify that the signal …"  Read Full Review »

"I wanted an antenna designed for 800MHz. This little antenna does a fine job of local and not-so-local digital systems. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that local VHF high band performance was still good. This antenna even picked up the same NOAA weather stations that the scanner's original …"  Read Full Review »
