"I needed a 5 volt supply to run my PDA on the go, so I chose a pack of AA batteries and a 7805. I let my friend use it to charge his PSP on a trip but he hooked it up backwards and fried the 7805. I have to take off one star because these things die if connected backwards. I ended up building a new power supply using 2 of these (to regulate 2 amps instead of just 1, my PDA is rated at 2.4A) and added a 3A dio..." Read Full Review »

"Very useful when you need a high current regulated 5 volts, and needs no external electronic components besides two small decoupling capacitors (one on the input, one on the output) to regulate the voltage. It does get hot under a heavy load current, though, and is a bit overpriced...." Read Full Review »

That way if the leads break off (usually after repeated bending, not recommended), you still have 1/8" leads that you can solder longer lead wires to. This holds true for any component - think what the consequence …" Read Full Review »

"Used it as an instrument voltage regulator for the gauges in my 1966 Mustang. The original Ford units go bad often and this worked great. Use a heat sink and I used capacitors on the input and out to ground as filters. Need to be careful to not break off the legs by using stress relieve on the wires …" Read Full Review »
