"I replaced the battery right after Hurricane Katrina in 2005. The battery has given me trouble free service through several power failures and it's still going strong. I haven't heard that dreaded beeping in the night yet but I won't be disappointed when the little battery finally needs to be retired for it has served me well. "this is the second one i have purchased for my gate opener and it is dead already. they seem to be weak when bought off shelf and only last a few months. i have a trickle charger 1.5a charger hooked up to it per instructions (made specifically to keep it charged) and i am looking into something other than a lead acid battery...." "This is a great battery for many uses. The main reason for some of the poor reviews is because people don't understand that SLA (Sealed Lead Acid) batteries have a lifespan of about 12-16 months due to the approximate 300 charge cycle maximum. "
