"this is designed to be open circuit if no jack is inserted, so 3 pins are for the jack. the remaining pins are like a SPST (single pull single throw) switch. its similar to a spst in that theres no wiring diagram, they assume you know how. plug in your jack and test pins to identify the phone pins, …" Read Full Review »

"The comment of this not coming with a wiring diagram is a mystery to me. The package have a very clear wiring diagram. Also, it's got a clear side. Even if it doesn't have a wiring diagram, you can literally see all the contacts. It's not rocket science. Worked very well for my needs. "

"I bought it at a local retail store, and it came with a nice wiring diagram on the package. For my application (adding a headphone jack to a TV) it is quite small, and I had to get 22 gauge wires to connect to it. "
