"It was hard to find out if this unit actually did HDMI sound processing, but it does and it does it well. It will not simply pass the audio stream onto your TV, it will apply the appropriate surround sound functions to the audio stream and output through your speakers. "I was at first sad with this unit: it just didn't sound very good. After pushing some buttons I managed to get some very good sound. Then I hooked up my iPod and discovered that controlling the iPod was about as screwed up as possible.
