"Pros I read the first review and dont understand what he is talking about. I plug mine into the Direct tv cable box, and recorded Pittsburg Steelers, and Indy Colts on DVD-R the first time I turned recorder on. It records with DVD+RW,DVD-RW (you just have to finalize these two disks) It records on my favorite DVD-R and you dont have to do squat. Cons Its big and gets dirty easily, but not to worry...." "I was looking to replace an old VCR that was on it's last legs. I time-slip all my TV viewing on a Panasonic DVR so I never have to watch commercials. Occasionally, there a two programs on at the same time that I want to watch and so the VCR comes into play. I have extended basic cable and no cable box so my new VCR had to have a coax input. Phillips has always does the best job at backing up their products so I am a repeat buyer of there's. I have another Phillips DVD Recorder in another room and they are by far the best DVD Recorders made. (I have had 3 other brands that puked.)
