"I waited a long time before buying this lens -- took a lot of photos with the kit lens that left me wanting... Don't make the mistake of waiting as this lens does a much better job. I jumped when I saw a couple of posts on the Pentax Forum that hinted that this lens might be discontinued.This lens makes my K20D images even more impressive. "If you're looking for a professional quality lens, this is not it-spring for the 16-50mm f2.8 ED AL (IF) instead- the difference is night and day. For one this lens is not sharp, secondly it is very slow and very loud. You're wasting a really good sensor on your camera by using a sub-standard lens. For the price, it's a good enough lens, but don't think that it's as sharp as their more expensive lenses...." Read Full Review »

"Great lens with a moderately large F4.0 aperture throughout its full zoom range. Optically very sharp for a zoom lens. "I purchased this lens some time ago, along with the *st D. It's shown to have very little distortion for a zoom, and the AF is actually fast and useful for an AF lens.
The feature I like best is the ability to "fine tune" the focus after AF without having to switch to MF. It's fast and accurate
