"This is a GREAT lens. The VR works wonderfully - but the lens is sharp even without VR engaged. The VR is a bit noisy when you aren't used to having it other lenses, but you get used to it. This lens is a little large, but that's expected since it is a 300mm. I was very impressed how slow a shutter speed I could use with natural light and VR engaged. Great lens!..." Read Full Review »

"For portraits or set-up shots its great and I like the Bokeh (the good). For action the auto-focus is not good low light performance is poor (the bad). The weight of the lens on my little D40 makes it top heavy and awkward on the Tripod (ugly, but OK). For the cost [$] v performance I hesitate to recommend...." Read Full Review »
