Designed especially for 35mm and medium format camera shooters who need both speed & precision the 405 is a great three-way head with bubble levels easily seen in two axes no matter the orientation of the camera. Meaty rubberised knobs can either completely disengage the gear mechanism for a quick rough estimate of position or offer the finest exacting placement for even a macro shot. Cranks allow 360 degrees pans and +90 to -30 degrees of frontal or lateral tilt.

Great for heavy cameras/lenses

"This is a fantastic camera head. I've owned one for 3 years and use it with a large MF film camera (Fuji GX-680III) with heavy glass. If it can handle that, it can handle anything in the 35mm/telephoto range. All actions are smooth and easy to access. The large knobs are rubberized and easy to grip. The knobs each have an outer collar that serves as the axis "quick release" for gross adjustment, and an inne..." Read Full Review »

In principle great, in fact terrible.

"This head seemed like a great idea -- great control over positioning the camera. Oil levels for each axis. BUT the geared head is clunky to use. There is a fine adjustment and a gross adjustment. Fine adjustment is easy. The gross adjustment is not particularly intuitive. This might just be a matter of familiarity. But you can find yourself releasing the gross adjustment too quickly and whipping your camera in a..." Read Full Review »

Best head I own.

"I think you need a ball head on some jobs and a geared head only when adjustments are the main job you want the head to perform. I have used this head for about 5 years and have had no trouble at all. This head is not for sports unless your locked on a spot where the action takes place. I put a quic …"  Read Full Review »

"I am an architectural photographer and have used 2 of these for 3 years almost daily. They are sturdy, hardy, and have all the adjustments needed. They will help remove one frustration from your life and free your mind to do what it needs to be doing. An earlier reviewer says they drift. They do not …"  Read Full Review »

"The Pro-Digital Geared Head is a solid unit, with quick adjustments and geared adjustments with no backlash.
