"I bought this ball head to match my 055X PROB tripod. Both the tripod and the ball head are high quality but the ball head has some weaknesses. It is said that it can hold steady a camera with lens that is up to 11 lbs. My camera (Canon 5D Mark II) and my biggest lens (Canon 300mm f/4.0 IS USM telephoto), whith the hood not even fully extended, seems too heavy for the ball to settle in the position I want it t..." "It's not an ArcaSwiss or anything exotic, but it's a great value. Solid build quality, and the ball doesn't move when it's being tightened. "Birding, wildlife, limited panorama, general tripod shooting.
Use with Canon 100-400mm and Sigma 50-500mm
Well constructed, holds tightly yet can be loosened to allow small changes.
Swivel base is a definite plus.
I use it in conjunction with other Bogen heads with the RC2 quick release.
