"I purchased this machine to be able to transfer all of my VHS tapes to DVD because I did want them to loose any more quality. After reading the book, (which I do not usually have to do) I did finally figure out how this process works, but it took some figuring and trying to accomplish the task. "I was excited to be able to get a good looking unit at such a resonable price. However, upon receiving it the unit & the box it was in reeked of cigarette smoke. Not being detered I set it up & seems to work well when just viewing TV through it. I didn't try to record anything on it or play a VCR tape for a few weeks(My mistake--Life got in the way).
