"I bought this modem based on the fact it works with Windows XP 64 bit and that it's an external USB modem. Unlike other USB modems that claim to work with XP 64 bit, and don't, this one does. Over the past month I have found that my connection speed is around 33.6Kbps, or 4.2KB/s. Previously my connection speed was around 28.8Kbps at best. "For me in a rural area, this modem is not worth the effort or the money. Several comments/reviews state it disconnects quickly and I agree. I have a good phone line in case you are wondering. After 1 month of attempted use it has failed totally, will not even dial. I see there is another Hiro model slightly larger and priced the same. But as I write this review it's rating is even lower.
