"This DVD drive is on the higher end of optical drive technology as far as its speeds go. Of course, multi-drives like this generally have lower CD-ROM speeds than ordinary CD-ROM drives, and I don't deny that my old CD-ROM is faster reading CD's (it's 52x rather than this Lite-On 48x). "I just bought this to replace essentially the identical burner without lightscribe. Well, lightscribe works, 4.7g single layer dvd-r works, but the dual layer media dvd+r DL is not read, written, or even acknowledged as existing. Those discs currently read/write in my laptop just fine and were read/write in my previous LITE-ON drive (dh-20a4p)bought in December Both drives SAY "dvd+r DL" on the face plate. UP..."
