"This is my second Lacie Rugged drive: I have owned a 160 GB (USB-only) for two years, without any problems, and now that I needed more storage I decided to get the 500 GB, Firewire 800 version to get higher transfer speeds. "Drive died after 6 weeks. Not very "rugged". Have 3 other LaCies--all fine. Something not engineered right with this model. My students bought them and half of theirs broke, too.
