The best photographs are often the ones you never saw coming. Because there is so little warning you need a film that can handle a wide variety of available light and motion indoors or out without losing subtleties in color sharpness and skin tone. Kodak Professional Portra 400-speed films give you that flexibility. You can freeze the action stop down for extra depth of field or pick up added detail in shadow areas. In addition to all the benefits of a faster speed you also get strikingly fine grain. So you can shoot with confidence whether you choose Portra film NC for natural color or Portra 400VC film for vivid color.

Best color negative film in its speed

"This is simply the BEST ISO 400 35mm color negative film on the market. Take this traveling, to your kid's soccer game, football, etc. Low light? Who cares. Put the film on a decent Epson photo (negative) scanner - and you've got the equivilent of a 14+ Mpixel camera - and color will be brilliant with a "pop factor" that would take you a while to achieve in photoshop and a digital camera...." "Great film if you like strong color contrast. I prefer the NC for a more natural, muted color. NC is almost always sufficient to capture strong color...." Read Full Review »

"I prefer the 400VC to the 400NC. They're both great, but I don't think 400VC's colors are oversaturated and it's what I use the most. ISO 400 is a great sweet spot -- fast enough to give you flexibility and always perfect for flash work too.

Kodak recently improved the Portra line and it shows. …"  Read Full Review »

"First of all, let me say that I love film photography. I am a photography student at California State University, Long Beach, and will say that even in today's digital age, there is nothing quite like the experience of film.

That being said, I was looking for a color negative film for portraits a …"  Read Full Review »

"I use this for waterfowl action shots, so I needed fast film. At ISO 400, this film is very fine grained, better than I used to get with 100. The grain is almost negligible. The color is great, the best of Kodak's considerable achievements in color balance and rendition, great for wildlife. Forg …"  Read Full Review »

"Portra is one of the best color negative film you can buy. Renders colours beautifully. Having a color temperature of 5200K, you can use it the whole day, and even in tungsten lightning with a minor orange/red cast.

Just load it in any camera-point&shoot, SLR, holga-or not, leica-or not, nikon-or …"  Read Full Review »
