I contacted Kingston, and they said it was still possible they will work, even though they're not what my computer calls for. I installed them, and luckily they work. "I needed to purchase a 512 MB DIMM for my Dell notebook. Either I misread the offering or they shipped me 2 256 MB DIMMs instead. No doubt the memory worked because I have never had a bad memory from Kingston in the past. I didn't try these because it was not what I wanted and generally you cannot return opened memory packages. "This worked very well for me. I have a Sony Vaio and it was what was needed to upgrade the memory. I did have to go back and buy a second chip since for 1 gig of memory Sony installed 2 512 chips. It was a learning experience for me, but installed easily and sped up my computer significantly. "
