Why are they RED?!

"Imagine my dismay when these arrived and I discovered they're RED! What color pen would you use to write on them? How easily definable would anything that's written on them be? We use Avery labels with photos and text on them, which have a white background. The red on the edges looks awful. Why on earth don't they make them in the standard silver or white?
