"I purchased this specifically to transfer the collection of family vhs tapes to dvd. The product is quick and easy to use, but one must first wade through the many pages of instructions.
The machine offers more editing options than I will ever use. Great for the enthusiast.

"Replaces a Sony VCR/DVD burner combo, where the DVD burner broke down after 13 months. So far this one has worked OK, burnt DVDs, transferred from DVD to Video, etc. It's also physically smaller, which is a good thing. "

JVC DR-MV80B - DVD recorder/ VCR combo Review
"I bought this unit to complement a new HD TV and HD TiVo unit. Started to hook up the new JVC DVR only to find out that the ONLY inputs are COMPOSITE inputs ... not even any COMPONENT inputs, certainly no HDMI inputs. (I'm guessing HDMI only works to TV from device, not device to device.) "
