"1) The software is capricious: Sometimes it would'nt even start or it would stop responding (freeze)in the middle of a session. The only recourse is to reboot the computer. Even then it wouldn't often help.

"Fast and Cheap. The one single thing lacking on this scanner is a manual exposure control. Any slide with allot of contrast in it will end up overexposed beyond repair. Why would that control be so hard when all of the other features are so cool. Almost, but not quite. "
