"As a commercial photographer I shoot an awful lot of product both big and small. I mainly use the mini boom arm to hold a Vivitar 283 flash and Micro Apollo as an overhead light when shooting small products. For this task the Mini Boom Arm works great. "When they say, "holds a small light fixture" believe that. Out of the box the 1 lb counterweight doesn't really let you put too much on it. A shoe mount strobe, and an adapter for the stud, you're done. Adding a small (33" shoot thru) umbrella and the balance becomes precarious at any kind of extension; and extension's kind of the point of a boom, right? "I bought this to use with my Speedotron MW3R so I could use it as a hair light. I also purchased at 3lb counterweight and a 5lb sandbag since the light is around 3 lbs. Once I had the counter weight on and started extending the boom arm I noticed the arm bowing and bouncing around way too much.

"I needed a boom for a Chinese lantern and Impact's Mini Boom Arm is perfect. It comes with a grip clamp so mounting it to a C-stand is easy. The arm is rigid at full extension and while I wouldn't load it up with too much weight, for a small light it works perfectly. "

"This boom works very well. Only problem is that the stand gets off balance and is likely to fall if the boom arm is extended all the way at full height. Even though, overall a good purchase. "
