"Bought it to store pic's and video primarily. It's appearance is nice, it's thin and fit well on my desk. The case is aluminum I think and very sturdy. The backup software loaded up without issue (I run Win XP), and the one button backup worked perfectly. It took about an hour to backup 16gb - kinda slow to me, but no big deal I guess. "Bought this external and a Seagate 500 PATA internal. The Hitachi is formatted in FAT32 which is what I wanted to be able to use in my USB drive receiver. I found this drive to be extremely slow, it takes over a minute for the system to recognize it. The external enclosure is made of plastic not aluminum. Pretty much did not work after 1 week of use. To be more specific, the drive kept freezing my computer (and various other computers) as I frantically tried transferring my files OUT of the drive.
