"Been wanting to move my library of VHS tapes over to DVD for a long time. The problem was, I couldn't find the proper means of doing the task. "I purchased this converter to transfer over VHS and 8mm recordings. At this time I am only able to test the VHS transfers to my iMac 2.8GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 4GB of DDR2 memory. I am using the native software that comes with Macs ~ iMovie '08, GarageBand '08, and iDVD. My VCR is a Sanyo 4-head Hi-Fi VCR, nothing fancy. "I've been using the ADVC-110 to convert old Hi8 tapes to digital format on my Mac.
This product, unlike others on the market, coverts the raw footage of the tape rather than compresses it during the process. Yes, it is a little bit more expensive, but, to me, it is well worth the extra money.

"Very easy to use. Does what it needs to do right out of the box. No software, drivers, or other hassles. Video capture was excellent quality without any dropped frames.
Only downside: No USB port interface for computers without a firewire port.
