"Bought a 3.5" IDE/USB and SATA/USB for additional on-line backup storage. IDE works fine, but SATA wasn't recognized by WIN2K SP4 or WIN XP SP3. Have 1 desktop and 4 laptops and none recognized SATA box.

Power switch ON-OFF orientation on SATA box is reverse of that on IDE box. Why?

"This will do what you need it to but I'm not sure I'd rely on it for day-to-day use.

It's cheaply made. Not too bad, but nothing to write home about. There is almost no way for air to flow over an installed drive, so take that into consideration if you plan on putting a huge or hot drive in.

"I use this with an older 40Gb Maxtor HDD. It does what it's supposed to do. The only bad thing I've found is that the drive is constantly spinning, while the power is on. Since this unit does not have a cooling fan, this could lead to overheating. "
