The eTrex Legend has a full preloaded basemap with major features, such as lakes, rivers, cities, motorways, railroads and coastlines. The eTrex Legend's huge eight megabyte memory allows it to accept map data downloads from Garmin's entire line of MapSource CD-ROM's. The CD enables users to download locations such as restaurants, hotels, shopping malls, and entertainment. Once the information is loaded into the unit, and a point of interest is selected, topographical, street level detail, and phone and address information will appear on the screen. The new eTrex Legend uses a rocker switch, like a computer's mouse, making it easier to operate. Lightweight design for easy portability. The 160 x 288 pixel screen, with 4 level gray scale, has the highest resolution in its class. Stores up to 500 waypoints. Waterproof construction to IPX 7 immersion standards. The Venture uses Garmin's 12 parallel channel GPS receiver for a quick and accurate positioning. Uses 2 AA batteries (not included). Includes PC interface cable.

Nice beginner gps model

"Nice entry gps for those looking for a model for hiking/geocaching. The base map is the bare minimum, but free maps can be found and downloaded from the internet. Satellite acquisition was fair intially, but with continued use, it picks up the signal more quickly. Only drawback is the inability to add more memory...." Read Full Review »

Nice looking, but completely worthless

"An awful GPS. It takes forever to get a your location at the top of a hill. Around trees or buildings, you probably won't get a reading at all, of you will have to play a walking "Statue of Liberty". When you get a location, it keeps bouncing. The map is OK, but the screen's contrast is awful. This is generally NOT a reliable or even useful GPS. Even the comm with the computer is a pain. Forget this GPS!..." Read Full Review »
