I don't know what kind of hard drive was inside it, but I would definitely not buy this particular make again. "I've bought 16 of these drives over the past 2 years and only 1 has given me any problems. On that one drive, the external power supply (brick) was the culprit. When I called FD's tech support, they were great on the phone! You actually get a native English speaking human who is very quick to help you.
