"I did not have firewire ports on my Dell Desktop. It has a large hard drive and good processor that is built for media applications. My camcorder is firewire oriented - Canon Camcorder - thus I needed firewire ports for this computer. The directions / procedures where clear and illustrated with a graphic. "This card is very easy to install and seemed to work at first. While having my external 250 GB hard drive and M-Audio Firewire sound card attached to this card, the sound became distorted upon large data transfers.
