"I upgraded my Dell Inspiron mini with this memory. It ran well with 1GB but since I am running Ubuntu on it and didn't want to use swap (to minimize write to the solid state HDD) I wanted 2GB of RAM for the times when 1GB wouldn't be quite enough. "Dell has compiled their version of the Ubuntu kernel for the Mini 9 in such a way that it cannot use more than 1 Gig of RAM. Installing a 2 Gig memory module will not increase the amount of RAM available to the OS unless you recompile the kernel. "Manufacturer says 1gb is max for Mini9.
EZ Install this, boot to your BIOS and it sees your 2gb no problem. Win XP also sees 2gb. Speeds that little computer up quite a bit. Thanks

Took out the two screws on the back panel, popped open the cover, disengaged the original memory, pulled the original out, and put in the Crucial memory stick, then buttoned it back up. "the only difficulty was confusion over what the difference between the two types of ram would mean in real world. even an email left it unclear what would matter. i was forced to make quite a few phone calls to people unrelated to crucial. but other than that everything was great. "
