Twice Tried To Upgrade - Both Failed

"On 2 occassions I tried to upgrade my Dell Inspiron 6000 from 1 GB of memory to 2. The first time, after the new memory modules were installed, Windows froze during boot-up. I returned the modules and was sent replacements at Crucial's recommendation. The second set of modules did the same thing.
