Ultra High Speed Continuous Shutter
Now you can capture exactly the moment you want, the moment it happens. Until now, digital cameras have been able to record consecutive images at speeds of only a few images per second. The Ultra High-speed Continuous Shutter (CS) capabilities of the EX-F1 are the fastest in the world, shooting 6-megapixel snapshots at a speed of 60 fps. The shooting rate is variable for the 60 images, ranging from one image per second for a full minute (one image per second) to 60 fps. All of this means that the EX-F1 allows burst shooting at speeds faster than those possible with a single reflex camera, and beautiful images of each moment of high-speed action as it occurs.

Prerecord CS: High-speed recording of action that occurs before you press the shutter button
Prerecord CS uses a continually updated buffer to pre-record images after you half-press the shutter button. Fully pressing the shutter button causes buffer contents to be stored at up to 60 fps. This means you never miss any of those special moments because you were late pressing the shutter button.

Selectable Prerecord CS shooting speed
As with Ultra High-speed CS, you can select from among the following speeds for Prerecord CS: 1 to 7, and 10, 12, 15, 20, 30, and 60 fps. The CS speed determines the size of the buffer (in seconds): 12 seconds at 5 fps, six seconds at 10 fps, one second at 60 fps).

Move Out CS
Move Out CS automatically records what happened immediately before and after a subject moves out of a boundary on the monitor screen. This mode makes it easy to capture the perfect image of a bird taking flight.

Move In CS
Move In CS automatically records what happened immediately before and after a subject moves into a boundary on the monitor screen. This mode is great when recording the image of a runner passing a specific point.

Slow LIve: View buffer images in slow motion as they are recorded
Slow Live lets you view images of fast-moving action on the camera's monitor screen in slow motion. When the image you want to keep is on the screen, simply press the shutter button to store it.

Flash CS: High-speed continuous shutter even where lighting is dim
Flash CS lets you shoot up to 20 consecutive images at a maximum speed of 7 fps. Using the camera's built-in LED light, you can record images with High-speed CS at speeds ranging from 10 images to 60 fps.

Function ring control of CS speed
CS speed can be changed quickly and easily with a turn of the function ring, even while a CS operation is in progress. Available continuous shutter speeds are 1 to 7, and 10, 12, 15, 20, 30, and 60 frames per second.

High-speed movie recording
The 1200 frame-per-second (maximum) High-speed Movie capabilities of the EX-F1 makes digital imaging more fun than ever before. This means that you can easily shoot ultra slow-motion movies at speeds that have until now been available only on professional level cameras. Not only does this provide you with a tool for capturing dramatic moments not visible to the naked eye with amazing clarity, it also lets you collect valuable visual information for sport technique analysis, scientific experiments, nature studies, and much more.

30-300 fps speed switching
While 30-300fps is selected as the recording speed, you can toggle the movie recording speed between 30 fps and 300 fps by pressing the SET button or by operating the function ring. This provides you with the versatility to creatively match recording speed to the action as it happens.

High-speed movie manual recording
The EX-F1 lets you configure camera settings manually while using High-speed Movie. You can select A, S, or M for the recording mode, and also configure aperture, shutter speed, and ISO sensitivity settings. Manual settings let you set up for maximum image sharpness, for movies that show the movement of insect wings and other very fast moving action.

Prerecord (Movie)
Prerecord (Movie) helps to ensure that you never miss recording the moment you want even though you were too late with the record button. Prerecord (Movie) continually refreshes a five-second buffer with action captured by the camera's lens. Then when you press the record button, the current contents of the buffer are saved, followed by real-time recording. Prerecord (Movie) also can be used in combination with High Speed Movie and other movie functions.

Full HD Movie for unmatched image clarity
The EX-F1 lets you shoot beautiful 1920 x 1080-pixel Full HD movies at a frame rate of 60 fields per second. A commercially available HDMI cable can be used to connect to a Full HD TV for big screen viewing.

6-megapixel high-speed CMOS sensor and new LSI
A high-speed 6-megapixel CMOS sensor combines with a new LSI to make the EX-S1 a totally new type of digital camera. This plus original image processing technology enable advanced features and function like full-resolution Ultra High-speed Continuous Shutter, High-speed Movie, Full HD Movie, and more.

12X optical zoom with CMOS shift stabilization
12X optical zoom combines with a CMOS shift stabilization for beautiful images even at high zoom factors where images are prone to blurring. HD zoom, which can be used when shooting standard movies, lets you zoom up to 48X (12X optical zoom x 4X digital zoom), with high-resolution clarity that is virtually equal to that of optical zoom.

Crisp, clear LCD monitor screen
A wide built-in 2.8-inch clear monitor screen displays images of exceptional clarity for both recording and playback. High contrast, wide viewing angle, and high brightness ensure clear images regardless of viewing conditions.

Less still more video

"I found this camera through a review from another site, that reviewer said he felt the EX-F1 is more of a video camera with nice still capabilities, then a still camera with bonus video features, and I completely agree. Still Camera wise, the sensor is 6 megapixels, which isn't bad, but by many cameras on the market, it's not exceedingly special either. On iso settings greater than 100 in low-light/ and indoor ..." Good new concept

"This new camera presents some interesting new concepts. You can leave the camera standing by, and it will shoot automatically when a subject comes in or out of frame. This feature is good for nature shots. Its lens has a good coverage, and is fast when using wide angle. The pre-recording feature is very nice, but requires more light, since it will necessary to use the shutter at 1/60 sec. It is great that you ca..." Read Full Review »
