"When I'm shooting a wedding or event, I attach this to one of my camera bodies and hang it on my shoulder. It comes in handy when the light is too low to get a decent shot otherwise. Would also be good for hiking as it isn't too heavy. I'd say it's a good "first monopod" as it can introduce you to the benefits of having one without too much cost or hassle. "I use this product for sports and when i need a stick but need it to be mobile. Great stability, ball head works very good also. In addition, the monopod is very easy to expand/collapse, and it is well worth the money. Great stick for [$]. you get what you pay for, and it is good!! "
