"Bottom line, this lens is worth your money. Canons sharpest, fastest, etc? Not by far but for the price and what you get it does the job fantastically well. Autofocus motor IS noisy, but the focus isnt' that slow. It hunts at night so focus with flash then put it back into manual. "Cheap price, cheap construction pretty good pictures. I would'nt rank it as good as my L glass, but I can still take some good pictures given the right light. This lens seems best suited for indoor portrait work, and seems to muddle colors if used outdoors w/ lots of lighting and color. Could just be my own learning curve w/ this lens as well. "I came from using a Canon F1 New (a film SLR) and am a die-hard fan of the old FD lenses. I was somewhat skeptical of the EF line to say the least.
I can say that I am getting the same consistent quality with this $90 lens that I do with my old FD 50mm! Great lens! I'm very impressed.
